Komrades! As you may know, since our troops landing in Kertch, we are progressively regainging control over the crimean peninsula, submitted to an unqualified ukranian diktat.
HQ has ordered a strike on Saki airfield, to ease our next operations in the theatre. Primary targets are the 2 runways (45°-225°), control towers and Tu22M3 on the parking, according to our most recent intelligence reports. The airfield is probably defended by a whole SAM complex. Air threat should consist of a Saki based MiG29 CAP, and probably another one coming from Razdolnoe. Finally, it seems the ukranian diktat managed to get some US support, some US navy presence near the coasts is probable.
6 to 11 pilots can take part to this mission (for initial version):
detailed flight plan (for strike1to4)
The strike takes off at Kertch at 0700. Both sweep take off first, immediatly followed by SEAD. strike flights take off with a 3 minutes delay (timing is essential to let the sweep clean the area).
SEAD flight follow sweep 1 at first till WP2, then keeps on his approach at very low level and rapidly pops up at WP3 to engage SAMs as quickly as possible (be sure to attack quickly enough to destroy first the longer range SAMs).
Sweeps first must be cautions not penetrating into the WP 4-5-6 triangle, as long as medium range SAMs are not destroyed! Then, after having destroyed the first CAP contacts, both sweeps will orbit untill the strike completion.
The strike itself arrives with a low level flying (from WP2 to WP4), then quickly pops up before aligning on targets. DO NOT fly below 1500m, most likely SEAD may not destroy all AAA threats. This means, some weapons (such as anti-runway Kmg2u) have to be released with setka mode, because of the relatively high altitude. The strike only achieves ONE pass over Saki airfield.
Targets on Saki airfield as shown by our last reco:
Return to Kertch airfield via the southern coast. The whole group splits into 2 groups, alternating backwards fast radar scans, to ensure the strike has clear 6. Our operation will most likely wake up some unkranian interceptors. Landing is foreseen at 0743.

How to use | |
The host loads one of "HOST" missions and launch the network session (there is a host mission for each sortie type). Every client connects and loads his own flight. Then we use the connection procedure for 2.03 (to avoid collisions, that happen far too often in 2.51 when several flights take off from the same runway) : the host then removes the pause and tells to each client when to enter on the runway (and each client has to taxi a little forward to make some room for the next client coming on the runway), the clients have to wait for the host authorization. This allows for the different flights to arrive on the runway in the right order (sweeps have to take off first). |
